In the world according to Wikipedia, Twitter is a “free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send updates (otherwise known as “tweets”) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.”
But how do you explain that to someone who has no idea of what an email is let alone tweeting or twittering?
Maybe try this for size, Twitter is a free online service which allows you to send a message to all of your friends at the same time. Your Twitter friends will then receive a message on their mobile phone or computer each time you send a new message…… easy!

Its all about letting people know what you are up to with your normal day to day life, whether its mowing the lawn, reading a book or chatting up the guy down at the supermarket… people really are wanting to know!
These little insights into your life are displayed a short bite sized pieces which you enter into Twitter like a daily blog, from there you can also find friends and have people or businesses ‘follow’ you as you paint a picture of your daily activities.

Its about instant information. Twitter users are all tweeting information as it happens and before it can be elegantly written up into a blog post or news article. It’s like tapping into a collective word-of-mouth source with the ability to spread instantly.

So if you want to know which sex toy Topbuzza are reviewing this week or which elevator Stephen Fry is stuck in today then all of this information will be on Twitter first. If you work in the media, the tech industry or like being the first to know things, then Twitter is a very valuable information tool.

Okay, they say the way to a persons heart is through their stomach. In respect of that we are giving away a secret here that will hopefully help you on your third or fourth date when you have finally plucked up the courage to show off your cooking skills. So, if you are no way a Masterchef, then here’s a couple of fantastic recipes that will certainly help get you laid!

Topbuzza Bread Salad with a Twist. (This will easily serve two!)
What you’ll need.

• A Nice Virgin Olive Oil
• Crusty Loaf (a couple of days old works best!)
• Vine Tomatoes
• Red Onion
• Parsley
• Lime
• Sugar

What you need to do.

• Break the bread up into reasonable sized chunks, (you should only need two to three thick slices.)
• Slice the onion into small thin slices
• Slice the vine tomatoes into little thin wedges
• Sling all those ingredients into a serving dish of your choice and toss (the ingredients!)
• Sprinkle a good measure of sugar over ingredients in the dish (about one teaspoon)
• Cut the lime in half and squeeze over all the ingredients
• Toss again to get a good even mix going on
• Pour a good glug of Virgin Olive Oil over the whole salad
• Put into the fridge to chill until ready to serve
• When you are ready to serve, chop some parsley into little bits and sprinkle over the top of the salad
• Serve as small starter or side dish.

Topbuzza Lamb Burgers
What you’ll need.

• 500gms on Minced Lamb
• 1 Lemon
• Dijon Mustard
• Tzatziki sauce
• Salt and Pepper
• Crusty Rolls x 4
• Tomato
• Rocket Salad

What you need to do.

Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C, gas 6.

• Grate (or blend) two of the bread rolls to make breadcrumbs.
• In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, 500g lamb mince, some lemon zest, a teaspoon of dijon mustard and a generous pinch of rock salt and black pepper.
• Shape into four burger patties and chill for at least 30 minutes.
• Griddle or fry the burgers for 4 minutes on each side, until cooked thoroughly and piping hot
• Lightly toast your remaining 2 bread rolls.
  
• Pop each burger into a toasted roll with a touch of rocket, top with a couple of slices of tomato and a splodge of tzatziki

The office Christmas party conjures up images of drunk colleagues, uncomfortable ‘secret Santas’ and business banter with the office bore. So is it any wonder that so many people start looking for a job in the New Year?  And why does the line ‘What I don’t like about office Christmas parties is looking for a job the next day’ sound so familiar to you?

The annual office party can boost your career but, it can also break it. Here are some dos and dont’s of office Christmas party etiquette aimed to keep your job, reputation and dignity in one piece.

You should attend. Your office party is not an optional event. Even if you disdain the thought of spending a whole evening with the people you work with every day, it’s a good idea to make an appearance. It shows that you are part of the team.

Don’t dress inappropriately. But do dress professionally. The venue will determine the dress code so make sure you know what it is. But look as sexy as you possibly can.

Do some schmoozing. Parties are a good time to talk to people you wouldn’t normally come across and, of course, the boss. This could help you in the long run in terms of forging alliances, helping to get things done or just raising your profile. But of course…

… Don’t talk shop. Do you want to be seen as the office bore? The office party gives you the chance to get to know people as people not just ‘Steve from accounts’.

Do drink in moderation. Excessive drinking is the number one cause of office party ‘incidents’. Remember, it is a marathon not a sprint and it is likely that you will have a long evening ahead of you. But, by the time you realise this you may have already consumed enough alcohol to sink a battleship and not quite be with it. Stick to your limit, drink slowly or alternate between alcohol and water and, if it’s too late for that, then switch to soft drinks and mince pies. And resist the temptation to indulge in tequila shots or flaming drambuie or you may end up losing your pants along with your inhibitions!

Don’t leave too soon. Tequila slammers with the girls from HR may be more appealing than your department’s party. But, unless you have made a holy show of yourself, stay for at least a couple of hours even if it is the most boring party ever. After all, it’s your boss that you need to impress when it comes to getting a promotion.

Above all, enjoy the party. Strive to be remembered for the right reasons and not for your lustful antics or David Brent dancing.

And don’t sit on the photocopier with no knickers on!
